USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People
The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People is a comprehensive set of procedures established by the USCCB in June 2002 for addressing allegations of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy. The Charter also includes guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse.

When a criminal charge involving a minor is filed or a credible accusation against a member of the Church concerning a minor is established, the Diocese of Phoenix immediately alerts the public through a Community Notification Statement on its website.

The Diocese of Phoenix was officially established on December 2, 1969 – prior to that establishment the parishes, schools and other institutions were part of either the Diocese of Tucson or the Diocese of Gallup. Any credible allegation of abuse that occurred prior to the December 2, 1969 date is coordinated by the Diocese in which the abuse occurred.
